The second edition of the Biennial of Thought “Open City” will invite citizens to debate and reflect on the great challenges of contemporary society, with a program of activities and presentations throughout the city and with local, national and international professionals. The event will take place from October 13 to 18.
The world is immersed in an epochal change marked by the digital revolution, economic globalization, scientific progress and climate change. The celebration of the Biennial of Thought is an initiative to invite the residents of Barcelona to think about the future, paying special attention to the role of cities, with the aim of finding realistic and sustainable future projects.
The Biennial of Thought will spread throughout the city and will fill up to forty public spaces, facilities and groups with more than 85 activities. Thus, the main stages will be the Joan Coromines square, the CCCB, La Modelo, the Fabra i Coats, the Agustí Centelles gardens, the Doctor Pla i Armengol gardens and Can Felipa gardens.
To these spaces it will be necessary to add 33 more, those corresponding to the + Biennial program, in which 42 entities and projects have been involved to promote 40 parallel activities.
Local, national and international voices to reflect on the future.
All the activities of the Biennial will be face-to-face, will follow all security measures and will have limited capacity due to COVID-19. For this reason, as of October 2, the ticket reservation period will open, through the web biennalciutatoberta.barcelona.
In addition, a dozen activities will be broadcast live on the Biennial of Thought website, and all the presentations and debates, with the exception of the + Biennial program, will be registered and can be viewed on demand on the same website.
